On November 20, a batch of non-compliant clothes are destroyed under the supervision of Nanjing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The test showed the benzidine (decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes) in the clothes exceeded the standard threshold.

In July 2015, Nanjing authority accepted a report for inspection of a batch of imported pants (two types, totaling 89 pieces). Those goods were imported from Hong Kong in China and its place of origin was China. During the inspection, one piece of khaki pants proved to exceed the standard threshold for benzidine in decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes. Nanjing authority destroyed other 53 pieces after the other type (35 pieces) passed the test.

According to requirement of GB 18401-2010 National general safety technical code for textile products, the use of decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes is forbidden. Where its concentration in the products exceeds 20mg/kg, it is deemed as intentional addition, violating against the requirement of national mandatory standard in China.

Reminder: Imported textiles shall also comply with technical code of China, they will otherwise be destroyed or returned. Companies should choose authoritative testing labs for product testing.
