Chinese Bureau returned unqualified soothers

Recently, Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau Office found soothers in store through cross-border e-commerce failed in the baffle test, non-compliant with GB 28482-2012 Safety requirements of soothers for babies and young children. The batch of products have been currently returned according to law.
 
Soothers are usually employed to fulfil the children’s non-nutritive sucking. However, Baffle test is an important indicator to determine whether a soother is safe. Violation against the test indicates defects in soothers may pose risks of inhalation and suffocation.
 
In recent years, all countries give a rise to the quality and safety of soothers for babies and young children. The Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) have warned soothers of several brands on the market. General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) and Standardisation Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC) jointly published the first national mandatory standard for soothers in China-- GB 28482-2012 Safety requirements of soothers for babies and young children, specifying stipulations on their material, structure, mechanical performance, chemical properties and test methods as a basis for consumers to choose safer soothers.
 
Recently, China is strengthening supervision on imported products through cross-border e-commerce. C&K advises relevant companies to assess risks with caution and choose authoritative test body to test their products in strict accordance with relevant technical requirements.
