[CPSC] Overview of CPSC notifications on recalls in April 2015

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls 23 batches of products in April 2015. There are 14 batches of Chinese products, accounting for 60.87%.
 
The Chinese product categories notified through the CPSC in April were as below:
Product category Notifications (batches) Percentage
Sports & recreation facilities 4 28.57%
Children’s products 2 14.29%
Home appliances 2 14.29%
Electrical tools 2 14.29%
Textiles 1 14.29%
Toys 1 7.14%
Household products 1 7.14%
Other 1 7.14%
 
The above products are notified for various hazards, namely: fire, choking, electric shock, falls, burns, heavy metals and injuries. Accompanying measures (refund and replacement) are taken for such notifications.
 
Fortunately, most products notified have no accident reports on casualties. But wheel casing of bicycles notified on 16 April 2015 has one victim, who suffers from cervical injury and nerve injury due to fracture of wheel casing.
 
So it is important to track the recalls of products to ensure consumers’ legitimate interests and rights. C&K Testing hereby reminds related enterprises to enhance the product quality by learning more about the potential hazards of their product categories.
